Weekend Showcase - Riviera Line - 2004/2005

In this showcase we feature the picturesque Riviera Line from Exeter to Paignton and display a variety of stock as it would have been seen in 2004/2005.

159019 in it's attractive South West Trains livery is seen at Exeter St Davids shortly before departing with a service from London Waterloo - July 2005

67027 is seen at the head of a York to Paignton service. During the summer of 2004, Virgin hired four of these locomotives to work Saturday services - July 2004

150263 arrives at Exeter St Thomas while working a service from Paignton to Exmouth - August 2004

A somewhat unusual visitor to the area, 158858 passes Starcross. Hired by First Great Western, the unit is currently diagrammed to work between Penzance and Exeter St Davids - August 2005

Covering the Riviera Line wouldn't be complete without a picture taken at Langstone Rock. 43153 is seen passing the iconic location with a Summer Saturday service to Newquay - August 2004

Having just emerged from Kennaway tunnel, 43036 opens up on a London Paddington bound service. Looks like someone else wanted to take the photo opportunity as well - July 2005

66043 passes through Teignmouth with a rake of empty ballast wagons from the Hackney Engineers sidings near Newton Abbot - September 2005

The use of temporarily stored HST's didn't always go swimmingly in the summer of 2004. Shortly after failing at Newton Abbot, 43098 is prepared for rescue by 37425 - September 2004

43189 leads 43106 through Torquay while working a late running service from Paignton to London Paddington - June 2004

220019 awaits departure from Paignton from which it will work a service to Manchester Piccadilly - September 2005
