Class 150/2 Withdrawn Today

It's been reported on the Dovetail Games support site that the Thomson/Oovee Class 150/2 pack will be withdrawn from sale at no later than 6pm (UK Time) today.

As this pack is integral to many scenarios from DPSimulation, along with undoubtedly hundreds around the community, I would strongly suggest any users that don't have it make a purchase if possible, especially as it is half price in the current sale.

The pack can be found via the Steam store by clicking here.

DPSimulation Finished?

The reports of my demise are false!

Following several emails over the past couple of weeks, it seems that someone has noted somewhere that I am no longer creating content for Train Simulator, this is completely untrue!

Although it is true that I haven't released much in the last few months, the truth is that i'm currently working on what is by far the biggest project I have ever undertaken. These projects take time, bear with me.....

Class 105 BR Blue Express Parcels Repaint - Released

I have just uploaded a new repaint to the DPSimulation website courtesy of Richard Fletcher.

Utilising the BR Blue Pack Loco Add-on from Steam, this repaint depicts the Class 105 DMU in variations of the BR Blue Express Parcels livery.

Please note that as well as the BR Blue Pack Loco Add-on, this repaint also requires the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 101/117/121 Sound pack. Without both requirements the repaint will not work.

This pack can be downloaded from the 'DMU' section of Richard's page by following this link.

Donations

Once again, this is something that I hate doing, but i'm often left with little choice but to make an appeal.

We don't ask users to sign up and don't charge for content at DPSimulation and never have any intention of doing so, the resource was created to maintain a free library of Train Simulator content. Although we do receive some donations, it often isn't enough to cover the costs we accrue due to the large amount of content we host and although i'm always happy to make up any shortfall, I'm not always able to do so.

As ever, if you like the content we create and host or just want to help out, please consider a donation of any amount. Paypal donation buttons can be found on this blog, on the DPSimulation website or via paypal.me/dpsimulation

All donations are very much appreciated and help to maintain the resource for existing and future users. May I also thank those who have donated previously, your support is invaluable and we simply couldn't exist without you.

Class 66 Advenza Freight Repaint - Released

I have just uploaded a new repaint to the DPSimulation website courtesy of Richard Fletcher.

This is a repaint of the Freightliner Class 66 V2.0 DLC into Advenza Freight livery as applied briefly to 66841-66844 in 2009.

This reskin also makes full use of the excellent modifications as afforded by the 'Armstrong Powerhouse Class 66 Enhancement Pack'.   IT IS ESSENTIAL that this is installed, otherwise the reskin will not physically appear in the sim.

This pack can be downloaded from the 'Locomotives' section of Richard's page by following this link.

ECMLS: London to Peterborough Scenario Pack - Re-Release

Following multiple requests over the past few months, I have decided to re-release this pack in it's original form after it's period of unavailability.

Please note that this scenario pack will only work for those who owned the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 91/Mk4 Enhancement Pack prior to the withdrawal of the Virgin repaints. I assume these can be swapped with other repaints you do own, but no support can be given for errors created as a result of this process.

Set in 2016, this ten scenario pack covers passenger operations on the route and utilises the HST, Class 91/Mk4 DVT, Class 90, Class 313 and Class 321.

The scenarios offer varying and challenging operations and gives nearly 9 hours of further driving on this route along with varied AI and plenty of interaction with other services to keep you on your toes.

As ever, in order to provide the most realistic experience possible, the requirements list for this pack is quite extensive. The readme can be viewed from the download page, or from within the download package itself.

HTA EWS/DB Schenker Repaint Pack - Released

I have just uploaded a new repaint to the DPSimulation website courtesy of Richard Fletcher.

This pack contains repaints of the Dovetail Games\RSC Settle Carlisle HTA bogie hopper wagon into three versions of current liveries:

EWS Unbranded
EWS with DB Schenker branding
DB Schenker Red

A texture update is also provided for the 'default' EWS wagon as included within this route DLC.

Mods to braking physics have also been made - a seperate .bin file for the 'default' EWS wagon is provided, so as not to overwrite the current one and therefore risk potentially breaking scenarios.

This pack can be downloaded from the 'Wagons' section of Richard's page by following this link.

Class 47 Rail Operations Group - Now Released

I have just uploaded a new repaint to the DPSimulation website.

This pack is a repaint of the Kuju Class 47 locomotive in Rail Operations Group livery as carried by 47812 and 47815. Two variations are included, one with headboard and one without. Although ROG sometimes place the headboard in two different locations, I have specifically chosen to hang the headboard on the lower bracket.

This repaint requires you to own the European Loco & Asset Pack from Steam.

This repaint can be downloaded from the locomotives section of this page.

Rolling Stock Branding Packs

Recently I have been uploading various sets of branding packs to the DPSimulation website.

Much of the older stock bought on Train Simulator is unbranded and although there are branding packs available on several different websites, I decided to create some of my own due to much of the stock being used in my scenarios.

These branding packs can now be found on the reskins page of the DPSimulation website by clicking here.

Steam Workshop - 1S04 - 1612 Wembley PRDC to Edinburgh

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Route: ECML South: London to Peterborough
Difficulty: Medium
Length: 70 Minutes Approx
Start Time: 16:33

Description

This afternoon you are in charge of a Royal Mail service from Wembley PRDC to Edinburgh via Low Fell using a 4-car Class 325 EMU. You will drive the section from Belle Isle to Peterborough where you are to collect another driver.

Briefing

Starting at Belle Isle you are currently awaiting your path. Once given the signal to proceed, head to Peterborough where you will collect another driver.

Notes

Please remember that the maximum speed of your consist is 100mph, exceeding this speed may result in the scenario not functioning as intended. Also, try not to get caught out with TPWS overspeed like I did!!

When this service ran in the late nineties, it would often be routed via the slow lines from Huntingdon to Connington, even though nothing was booked to pass. I imagine this was intended for route retention so have therefore replicated it in the scenario.

Steam Requirements

ECML South: London to Peterborough
European Loco & Asset Pack
Class 91 'Intercity' Pack
Class 325 EMU Pack
Class 313 'London Overground' Pack (Base Requirement for NSE 313)
Class 313 'Network South East' Livery - Marketplace
Class 365 'Network South East' Livery - Marketplace

Non-Steam Requirements

Armstrong Powerhouse Class 43 (Valenta)/Mk3 Enhancement Pack
Armstrong Powerhouse Class 91/Mk4 Enhancement Pack

Recommended (Not Critical)

MJA Freightliner Pack - Now Released

I have just uploaded a new repaint to the DPSimulation website.

Essentially a branding pack, this pack adds two further variations of the Oovee MJA wagon in the older Freightliner Heavy Haul and newer Freightliner Powerhaul variants. Empty and loaded wagons are included.

This repaint requires you to own the Oovee MJA Box Wagon from Steam. This pack is now available as part of the Class 70 'Freightliner' Pack on Steam and at the time of typing, is only £2.39 in the sale.

This repaint can be downloaded from the wagons section of this page.

Steam Workshop - 1Q24 - 1038 Heaton TRSMD to Derby RTC

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Route: Edinburgh to Glasgow
Difficulty: Medium
Length: 65 Minutes Approx
Start Time: 14:15

Warning

This scenario replicates the real service pattern of this particular working and therefore has lots of running under yellow signals as well as a 10-12 minute wait at Gartshore Up Loop to allow traffic to pass. If you prefer constant driving and dislike the slow going and stop/start nature of this type of service, this scenario is probably not for you.

Description

This afternoon you are in charge of the Network Rail 'New Measurement Train' on a service between Heaton Depot and Derby via Glasgow Queen Street. You will drive the section between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh Waverley.

Briefing

Starting at Glasgow Queen Street, you are currently awaiting your path. Once given the signal to proceed, head to Gartshore, where you are booked for a short wait in the loop to allow traffic to pass. You will then proceed to Edinburgh Waverley where another driver will take over.

Steam Requirements

Edinburgh to Glasgow
European Loco & Asset Pack
Class 156 DMU Pack

Repaint Requirements

Class 156 'First Scotrail' Repaint - http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/reskins.html

Non-Steam Requirements

Armstrong Powerhouse Class 43 (Valenta)/Mk3 Enhancement Pack

Steam Workshop - 6O71 - 1506 Daventry International RFT to Dollands Moor

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Difficulty: Medium
Length: 30 Minutes Approx
Start Time: 19:36

Description

Tonight you are in charge of a freight working between Daventry and Dollands Moor using a Class 66 locomotive and a rake of VGA wagons. You will drive the section between Wandsworth Road and Orpington.

Briefing

Starting at Wandsworth Road, you are currently following a London Overground service so it will initially be slow going. You will proceed as far as Orpington where another driver is scheduled to take over.

Notes

On the approach to Bickley Jcn, signal VS201 may stick at red after the oncoming AI service has passed. You may have to press TAB in order to pass the signal, unfortunately this is out of my control.

Steam Requirements

Chatham Main Line – London to Gillingham
London to Faversham High Speed
Class 66 'EWS' v2.0
Class 319 'First Capital Connect' Pack
Class 378 'London Overground' Pack
VGA/VKA Wagon Pack (Marketplace)

Steam Workshop - 2C43 - 0823 Morecambe to Barrow-in-Furness

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Difficulty: Easy
Length: 20 Minutes Approx
Start Time: 08:35

Description

This morning you in charge of a Northern service from Morecambe to Barrow-in-Furness using a Class 150 DMU that is substituting for a failed Class 156. You will drive the section from Morecambe to Carnforth, including a reversal at Lancaster.

Briefing

Starting at Morecambe, first release the doors to allow passengers to board. As the inbound working arrived late, you are now around 14 minutes behind schedule but due to the generous time for turnaround at Lancaster, you should have no problems regaining your original timings.

Notes

Although the requirements are fairly high for a short scenario that doesn't cover a great distance, I have to work on the assumption that many of the workshop subscribers now own much of this content. As always, I also try to depict a picture of what would be seen by this particular working on the day.

Steam Requirements

WCML Over Shap
London to Brighton
Class 150 DMU Pack
Class 156 DMU Pack
Class 220 'Voyager'
Class 66 'Freightliner' v2.0 Pack

Repaint Requirements

Class 350 'First Transpennine' Repaint - http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/rf72reskins.html
Class 221 'Virgin' Repaint – http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/rf72reskins.html
